WELCOME TO Jannah

A constellation hotel in heart of Shela Village on the Island of Lamu

In the heart of Shela, on Lamu Island, a place of vivid barefoot childhood memories for Anna Trzebinski, her new project is a “Constellation Hotel” which incorporates a number of buildings around the old village square with a series of shared outdoor areas. The project also features four lovingly restored traditional wooden boats. Finally, in signature’s sensibility, the artistic community will be woven into the project via the village in the form of the “Shela Rooftop Artist in Residence” program under her Eden Project coming 2025/2026. The brainchild of Anna, she hopes this Constellation Hotel and its offshoots will have a significant social impact on the village, and that visitors will hugely benefit from this magical deeply traditional place.

One of the planets chicest destinations for discerning travellers looking to discover and be invited into new worlds, Lamu has flourished over the decades and more recently during covid and attracted more of its signature crowd, an extraordinary group of individuals some of whom have chosen to settle in starting with the 1960s. With the collateral damage resulting from the demands of more mainstream tourism, Anna started to contour and shape an idea more relevant to a traveller looking to be drawn into this mysterious and beguiling world. Borne out of many lessons learned during her creation of EDEN (her Nairobi property now under the management of The Hemingways Group), she wanted to weave discerning travellers a magic carpet on which to immerse into “Lamu Archipelago Life”.

Inspired by the culture and pristine marine nature, the new Jannah Lamu is born and expresses one woman’s love for a place that has played many important roles in her life and paved the way to a new chapter. Its name translates from the Arabic word for paradise and aims to offer a particularly different experience to visitors.
